I’m 40, starting from scratch, and I feel completely lost

If you had asked me 10 years ago, I thought I had it all figured out. A stable life. A plan. A direction. And then… slowly, everything unraveled. A business that didn’t work. A move that didn’t go as expected. Decisions that made sense at the time… but now feel like mistakes I can’t undo. And here I am. 40. No clear career. No stability. No roadmap. What makes it harder is not just where I am… but what I see around me. People younger than me — confident, settled, building things, moving ahead like life is a straight line. And I’m here… trying to figure out where to even begin again. Some days I feel motivated. Like maybe this is a second chance. Other days, it feels like I’ve just… missed my time. Like the world rewards people who figured it out early — and I didn’t. I don’t even know what I’m good at anymore. Or what I should be doing next. Be honest… is it actually possible to rebuild life at 40, or am I just trying to catch up to something that’s already gone?
