I got invited to a party… and realised I wasn’t actually meant to be there

I got invited to a party through someone I know. I didn’t think much of it — just showed up, said hi, tried to blend in. But within an hour, I started feeling something was off. People were polite, but distant. Conversations didn’t really include me. I kept getting those “who is this person?” kind of looks. At one point, I overheard someone asking who invited me. That’s when it hit me. I wasn’t actually part of the group — I was just an extra person who showed up through someone else. Nothing bad happened. No one was rude directly. But the whole time, I felt out of place. I ended up leaving early, and honestly, the walk back felt worse than the party itself. It’s such a small thing, but it stayed with me longer than I expected.
