I keep doom-scrolling the news until my chest is tight and I cant sleep

Every notification feels like another thing to be afraid of. Wars, the climate, the economy, things I have zero power to fix. I tell myself staying informed is responsible, but really I'm just marinating in dread at 2am. I want to care about the world without drowning in it. How do people stay aware and still protect their nervous system?

This community is lucky to have someone willing to be this honest. You make it safer for the rest of us to be real too.

Honestly thank you for writing this out loud. So many of us feel it and never say it. You just made a bunch of strangers feel less alone tonight.

Sending you so much warmth right now. Whatever you decide next, please be as gentle with yourself as you would be with a friend saying these exact words.

One thing that helped me: I stopped trying to feel better and started just letting myself feel honest. Weirdly, that is where the relief actually started.

Sometimes the bravest thing is simply admitting how heavy it has been. You just did that. That counts for so much more than it feels like.
